You might remember that around this time last year I was invited by ABC Family to be a Pretty Little Liars Secret Keeper. Those of us selected were sent special phones where we received messages from the mysterious A who had us doing all kinds of fun stuff in order to protect our secrets. It was truly one of the most amazingly put-together and FUN games I have ever played. And for an awesome show.
Well, this year ABC Family has outdone itself. I've been invited to play The Nine Paths of Chloe King a game tied to to their new series The Nine Lives of Chloe King And this year, instead of sending me a special phone to play the game, they're sending me a custom ipad 2! Yes, really! I almost passed out when I read that. They're calling it a MaiPad because we will be playing as members of the ancient and mysterious Mai race.
And the best part is that this year everyone will be able to play the game too. (Albeit without the ipad.)
So what is The Nine Lives of Chloe King about? I wondered that too. It's based on a trilogy of books by Liz Braswell that came out a few years ago.
Judging from the trailer and the description, it sounds a bit like Buffy, which was a show I LOVED so, definitely looking forward to this one. Check out the trailer and the blurb:
Chloe King is looking forward to celebrating her birthday with her friends and single mother, just like every other year…that is until she starts developing heightened abilities and discovers she's being pursued by a mysterious figure. Chloe soon learns she's part of an ancient race which has been hunted by human assassins for millennia —and that she may be their only hope for ultimate survival.
The Nine Lives of Chloe King premieres June 14th at 9pm, right after the summer premiere of Pretty Little Liars. Until then, don't be surprised if you see making a lot of tweets, blog posts, and facebook updates involving the show. The game runs 5/24-6/14.
Is anyone else playing? Can't wait to meet you all!
This past Earth Day (yes, I am woefully slow) ABC Family and Pretty Little Liars sent me a nifty trowel, some awesome yard work gloves, AND a special link to another sneak peak of the new season of Pretty Little Liars! Complete with info on whose shirt is coming off, and other vital info. Check out the video below, or go to the special link they sent me here for even more:
Who else is excited for the new season?? PLUS Did you know there are TWO new PRETTY LITTLE LIARS books coming out this year? I am all kinds of excited about this. These books were my crack last winter I read the first seven in like a week. The first one, TWISTED comes out July 5th, 2011.
So far there's no blurb up yet, but I can't wait to see what it's about and if the show has influenced the new book at all!
1. Look what Pretty Little Liars sent me! A clover plant! How cute is that? Next Monday, March 21, they're doing a marathon leading up to the Spring Finale! Don't miss it!
2. I wrote a letter to my teenage self for the awesome website Dear Teen Me and it's up today. Read all about My Tragic Youth (And see some rather embarrassing photos of my "fashion sense")! And then read the other letters from some amazing YA authors like Sarah Ockler, Hanna Moskowitz, Shannon Messenger, Jo Knowles, Sara Zarr, Elana Johnson, I could go on and on!
Congrats to the winners! Look for an email from me soon! Thanks so much to everyone for entering and spreading the word! I have a lot more books to give away now that BEA is coming up! So you've got plenty of chances to win!
So I'm like two days late, but you'll forgive me won't you? Especially when I've been sick and I come bearing gifts like this?
Yep, that's right, the mysterious A from Pretty Little Liars has been at it again, catching me by surprise just as I was ready to bash Valentine's Day with this lovely box of chocolates that has so far not proved to be poisonous. (You never know with A!)
If you missed this week's episode due to your own Valentine's Day celebrations (or any others) you can get caught up by watching them online. Hope your Valentine's Day was better than mine, which I spent with Thera Flu and a big box of kleenex!
ABC Family and Pretty Little Liars have done it again! This time A sent me a digital picture frame with some ominous photos already loaded. Check it out!
They also included a link, so you can get a glimpse of the photos they sent me. Go here to see what I saw:
If you're missing your PLL fix, you don't have long to wait, the new season starts on JANUARY 3rd! In the meantime, be sure to check out the link above and the Pretty Little Liars Blog and catch up on any episodes you missed by watching them online.
I will be back to posting regularly soon. In the meantime, I hope you're all having an awesome holiday season!
So you might remember last month, when the folks from Pretty Little Liars and ABC Family sent me a pretty much lifetime supply of orange M&Ms (seriously, we're still eating them). Well, they've surprised me again this month and it's AWESOME!
Today the UPS man brought me...
AN APPLE PIE!!
How cool is that? I felt like Oprah or something when I saw the Little Pie Company Of The Big Apple label and opened the box to find a fresh apple pie, packed in ice! Just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Seriously, (it bears repeating) how cool is that?
As if ABC Family hadn't already impressed me by choosing to make PRETTY LITTLE LIARS into an AWESOME TV show, and making me a Secret Keeper, surprise food gifts is totally putting them over the top.
And what would a gift from Pretty Little Liars be without a clue? Want to see another sneak peek of the upcoming Winter Season? Go here:
Also check out the Pretty Little Liars Blog where you can enter to win cool prizes, get character low down, read cast interviews and more!
The new season starts JANUARY 3RD but you can catch up on what A's been up to (besides sending me treats) and any episodes you missed right now ONLINE or during the PRETTY LITTLE LIARS MARATAHON on ABC FAMILY also on JANUARY 3RD! If you haven't seen the show yet, you should definitely check it out! It's good clean dirty fun!
You may remember that earlier this year I was a Secret Keeper in this awesome game from ABC Family and the TV show Pretty Little Liars. Well, yesterday they sent me a surprise Halloween present!
There was an adorable pumpkin candy dish filled with orange M&Ms that read Trick or Trick? and A. Plus a flashlight and a clue hidden in a photo that read Trick or Treat Witches! The clue leads trickortreatwitches.com where you can see a sneak peek at the new season!
It looks like we're in for some more fun times with Pretty Little Liars! The show returns on January 3rd. I know where I'll be then!
I keep forgetting to post this! As part of the Secret Keepers game, I got to ask Shay Mitchell who plays Emily on Pretty Little Liars a question! I submitted a few and this is the one she chose to answer.
My time as a Pretty Little Liars Secret Keeper is coming to an end. I'm going to miss playing the game as Emily. It was a lot of fun.
Since I managed to keep most of my secrets - some of that is thanks to you! A is offering me the chance to ask ONE question to Shay Mitchell, the actress that plays Emily on the ABC Family tv show. They're going to film Shay answering it!
So my question to you Pretty Little Liars fans is what should I ask?
What do YOU want to know?
Post your questions in the comments and I'll pick one!
I need help with the Pretty Little Liars Secret Keeper Game! A has threatened to reveal my secret unless I get 13I just need 11 more! people to post a story on the Pretty Little Liars message board about how they got their friends to like their new boyfriend!
Here's the deal. I need to get these posts, so anyone who goes over and posts (AND CREDITS ME) gets an extra entry into my Birthday Extravaganza which ended last night! AND if I get all 13 comments today, I'll randomly select one of the posters and give away a Pretty Little Liars book of their choice! Just come back and comment here to let me know which post was yours on the PLL board.
And tell them you're posting for me, Valerie. It's really really important that you say this is for Valerie because there's other people playing and I need to make sure the credit goes to me. Thanks so much!
If you don't already have an ABC Family account, you can log in using your facebook, twitter or myspace account so it's quick and painless!
Also, I was totally wrong yesterday and you have until 11:59pm ET TONIGHT to enter my Birthday Extravaganza contest, so hurry up and enter before it's too late!
So as you may know, I was selected to play the Pretty Little Liars Secret Keeper (to promote the new tv show based on the books airing on ABC Family starting TOMORROW June 8th at 8pm ET/7pm CT) game last month. They even sent me a Droid phone!
The game's been going on since May 25th and I have to say this is one of the most genius promotional projects I have ever seen. The amount of thought and preparation that went into this blows my mind. Not only that, it's FUN!
I'm playing Emily Fields: Emily Fields' life is picture-perfect. It should be. After all, her mom makes sure everything in their world is just so. So why does Emily dream of getting out of Rosewood? She's a star athlete with a popular boyfriend, but Emily feels like an outsider. Maybe that's why she's drawn to Maya, the new girl in town. They become fast friends, but Emily's feelings are a little more complicated than simple friendship. Question is how far will she dare take them? Or will she have to hide them, too? As "A" points out, it's not the only secret Emily is hiding.
I'm in a group with three other players who are playing the three other main characters, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer. Every other day or so we get text messages with challenges that we have to complete or else, our secrets will be revealed by A (who is possibly our missing, presumed dead... or is she... friend.) A also likes to taunt us via facebook even commenting on our status updates! So far I've had to make embarrassing phone calls, scour the internet for various items, design cool outfits on polyvore and I'm VERY nervous about what might come next!
About The Show (blurb from ABC Family) Rosewood is a perfect little town. So quiet and pristine, you'd never guess it holds so many secrets. Some of the ugliest ones belong to the prettiest girls in town -- Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, four estranged friends whose darkest secrets are about to unravel.
One year ago, Alison, the Queen Bee of their group, disappeared and the girls swore they'd never tell what really happened that night. They thought their secrets would bond them together, but just the opposite is true. Then again, who's to say what the truth is in Rosewood. It seems everyone in town is lying about something.
Now, as the mystery surrounding Alison's disappearance resurfaces, the girls begin getting messages from "A," saying – and threatening – things only Alison would know. But it couldn't be Alison. Could it? Whoever it is, they seem to know all the girls' secrets, and seem to be watching their every move. The girls are friends again, but will they be there for each other if their dark secrets come to light?
Don't Forget About The Books Too! I raced through the first seven books (written by Sara Shepard) at the beginning of this year and LOVED them. The 8th and final book in the series, Wanted, also comes out tomorrow! If you've never read the books, now's your chance to get caught up, for FREE. You can read the first book, Pretty Little Liars online here!
Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking The Spine. This week's choice is:
Pretty Little Liars #8: Wanted by Sara Shepard - Release Date: June 8, 2010 In Rosewood, majestic estates sprawl for acres, and Tiffany toggle bracelets dangle from every girl's wrist. But not all that glitters is gold, and the town harbors secrets darker than anyone could imagine—like the truth about what really happened the night Alison DiLaurentis went missing. . . .
Back in middle school, Ali plucked Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer from obscurity and turned them into the beautiful, popular girls everyone wanted to be. Ali was the best friend they ever had. But she also made them do terrible things and taunted them with their worst secrets. Now, three years later, all their questions about Ali have finally been answered and they can put this awful chapter of their lives behind them. Or so they think.
Not every story has a happy ending, especially when four pretty little liars have done so many wicked things. In the dramatic conclusion of Sara Shepard's bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer could get everything they've ever wanted—unless A has one more horrifying twist in store.
I have really enjoyed the Pretty Little Liars series (seriously, I read the first 5 books all in like, one week) and while I'm excited to find out how it all ends, I'm a little sad to see it go.
But I won't have to miss it for long because also on June 8th, the NEW Pretty Little Liars TV Seriespremieres at 8pm on ABC Family!
Friday, I got invited to participate in the ABC Family PRETTY LITTLE LIARS Secret Keeper contest and today THEY SENT ME A DROID! Which I get to keep after the contest is over! It arrived in a box of dirt and I don't have Verizon, but I don't care, it's still awesome. It should be fun trying to keep up with the game while in NYC for BEA.
Also Friday, the awesome Elana Johnson announced that she SOLD HER BOOK! Go check out her blog to read about her inspiring journey to publication! Plus she's having a HUGE Book Deal Giveaway!
And finally, today my awesome crit partner Lacey was named one of the winners of this month's Secret Agent! (She's #3 Greyskin which you should read because it's awesome!) That makes the Sisters In Scribe 2 for 2 in Secret Agent!
And now I must go get ready for my flight to NYC tomorrow. BEA here I come!
